Mr. Toad, Movie Star

In 1949, J. Thadeus Toad leaped from the pages of Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows and onto the silver screen in Walt Disney's The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. In just 30 minutes, Toad established himself as a star, though today he is not well-known among younger Disney fans.

The movie is available in DVD on two releases: Walt Disney Animation Collection volume 5, and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (better video quality than the former).

Mr. Toad has also made cameo appearances in other Disney productions.

In Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Toad can be heard yelling "Tally ho!" as he drives by in a fire truck.

In Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983), Toad appears in Scrooge's past in the role of Scrooge's former boss, Mr. Fezziwig.

In Clarabelle's Christmas List, from a 2001 House of Mouse show, a rather freakish Toad makes an appearance when Mortimer Mouse mixes up mistle toe with Mister Toad.
